How To: Xavy the elf

Xavy the Elf
Xavy the Elf is a fun design that makes you want to practice cartoon designs. You can dazzle the design by adding more pizzazz to the background. Nothing better than an Elf to represent fantasy during the Holiday season!

Tammy Taylor Nail Products used:
Gelprisa Gel Polish -- Gelprisa "Lucky Girl", Gelprisa "Simply Sheer" and Gelprisa "Little Bo Clear Pink" for this design. You may also use any of your favorite Gelprisa colors.
"Clean- it" Solution - Used to clean the nail surface once it's cured.
Wipe-its -- 100% lint free towelette that will leave the surface completely clean.
Nail Gelz Gel Paint - Green to emphasize the background of the design.
Dazzle Rocks -- "Rock Me Red" from the Jingle Bell Rock Collection and "Shimmering Stars" to produce the holographic 3-D effects in the design.
Top Gel+ - To seal our design when finished.
Prizma Powderz -- "Starry Night", "Candy Apple" and "French White". The color acrylics will help any artist to create great 3-D effects.
A+ Nail Liquid- Medium set speed allowing time for the nail tech to work.
Clean Finish Buffer -- For buffing the Dazzle Rocks.
Dazzle Rocks Nail Polish -- "Christmas Lights" from the Jingle Bell Rock Collection for highlighting.
3D Brush - sable short hair brush with a very fine point that will create deep marks when doing tridimensional designs.
Brush Cleaner - Contains special conditioners formulated for real sable hair so it will not dry out. Remove hard product in under 1 minute.
Towelette -- Small, super absorbent towel used to clean the brush in between uses; cut down on fumes and waste.
Small Dappen Dish -- Two small Dappen Dish, one clear and one dark. When working with tridimensional designs it is important to use a small container for liquid. This will save time and product.

Step by step procedure:
1. Apply a thin coat of Gelprisa "Lucky Girl" to half the nail and cure for 2 minutes under a UV light or 1 minute under a LED light. (When working on natural nails and using Dazzle Rocks on a single layer of Gelprisa gel polish, it is recommended to base coat the nail with Miracle Manicure to ensure strong adhesion and long lasting results.)
2. Apply enough Clean It Solution on a Wipe It towelette to thoroughly clean the surface of the nail. Clean the entire surface of the nail.
3. Apply Gelprisa "Sheer" gel polish, down three quarters of the way over the other half of the nail.
4. With the aid of a scoop, sprinkle "Shimmering Stars" Dazzle Rocks to the other half of the nail. Cure for 2 min under a UV light or 1 minute under a LED light.
5. Perform a soft buff over the Dazzle Rocks.
6. Seal the Dazzle Rocks with the Gelprisa "Clear Pink" and cure 2 minutes under a UV light or 1 minute under a LED light.

Tammy Taylor Reverse Dazzle Rocks Sculptured Nails

The Tammy Taylor Reverse Dazzle Rocks Sculptured Nails are done very similar to how I teach you to do nail biter nails; we will be creating the nail-bed first with Dazzle Rocks acrylic so we do not get any glitter on the free-edge, as the free-edge is going to be a solid color Prizma Powderz without glitter. This contrast gives you a dramatic effect which looks like you spent hours creating; when it only takes about 45 minutes to do a full-set.

I will be using the "Dazzle Rocks" from my "Jingle bell Rock Collection" and "Rock'n New Years Collection"

Have a Great Nail Day,
Tammy Taylor

Color Descriptions and Combinations:

The "DAZZLE ROCKS" are not like regular glitters, their "SHINE" "DEPTH" and "BRILLIANCE" sets them apart from all the others. And, they don't lose their SHINE and BRILLIANCE even after having them on for weeks.
Nail #1-
Nail-Bed: Prizma Powderz in "Dazzle Rocks" Rock'n at Midnight from the Rock'n New Years Collection
Free-Edge: Prizma Powderz in Little Black Dress
Nail #2-

Note: Always mix 1 part Dazzle Rocks to 3 Parts Competitive Edge Crystal Clear Acrylic; this ratio is the strongest and easiest to work with.

1. Apply a thin coat of Gelprisa "Lucky Girl" on the entire surface of the nail.
2. Use a scoop to either dip the nail or sprinkle the nail with enough Dazzle Rocks "Kiss me Mistletoe" to cover the nail completely. Be sure that the nail is completely packed. 3. Apply enough Clean It Solution on a Wipe It Towelette to thoroughly clean the surface of the nail. Clean the entire surface of the nail.
4. Using your A+ Liquid and WW Competitive Edge Acrylic Powder, grab a small ball and place it off center of the nail. Drag your ball vertically to approximately 1/3 of the nail surface and gently flatten with the back of your brush to resemble a ribbon.
5. Grab a second ball and place on the left side of the nail surface. Drag across the nail surface horizontally, from left to right, and gently flatten with the back of your brush to resemble a ribbon.
6. Grab a third ball and place off center, aligned with the top ribbon, and drag your ball vertically to the end of the nail. Gently flatten with the back of your brush to resemble a ribbon.
7. Using the "Candy Apple" acrylic, form a bow by creating a series of small petals. Grab a small ball of "Candy Apple" acrylic and place where the ribbons intersect. Mark and open the petals.
8. For the center of the bow, grab a very small ball of the "Candy Apple" acrylic and dip into the "Rock Me Red" Dazzle Rocks from the Jingle Bell Collection. Place in the center of the bow to give the bow a little shine in the center.
9. With the "Candy Apple" acrylic, wiggle 2 legs of acrylic to form the legs of the ribbon (see video).
10. Finish by accentuating the design with dots and lines around the ribbon.
11. Seal the nail surface except the ribbon and bow with Top Gel+ and cure for 2 minutes under a UV light or 1 minute under a LED light.
12. Apply enough Clean It Solution on a Wipe It Towelette to thoroughly clean the surface of the nail. To finish, clean the entire surface of the nail and apply Tammy Taylor conditioning Cuticle Oil.
