Hobby or Career

Congratulations Lauren Wireman!
Lauren is the Winner of the Nail Party drawing for $100.00 in Free Tammy Taylor Products.

Hobby or Career

#1 Do what you love
#2 Make a Career out of itTammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

Doing what you love to do as a Career, is a privilege, which many people do not have, but... Nail Technicians do have this wonderful opportunity. As Nail Technicians, we can make a Career, and a business out of doing what we love.
Quote:
The happiness of a person in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions.
Author: Alfred Lord Tennyson

But... is doing nails your Career or your hobby?
The difference between a Career and a hobby is: "are you making money doing nails"?
If you can answer: Yes, you are making money; then you have a Career.

Nails are so much fun, it is easy to get into a situation where they are more like a hobby and you are no longer making a profit.
But…Look at all you have invested in your Profession already:
So much of your Time and Money and Energy, have been spent on your Education and your Products.
So… Now, It Is Time to Start Making Money$$
You are a Professional and Nails are your Career, they can no longer be a hobby.

Quote:
Gather in your resources, rally all your faculties, marshal all your energies, focus all your capacities upon mastery of at least one field of endeavor.
Author - John Haggai

Any Nail Service you are presently doing which you are not making a PROFIT of at least $25.00 to $40.00 an hour, stop investing your time, energy, and money into it right now (you can always come back to it later when you have time to perfect it, so you can make a profit).
Because, what happens is when we stop making a profit, we get discouraged, and we lose our motivation to build our business. And... when we lose our motivation, our nail services start getting sloppy, and our Customer Service starts diminishing.

When we are making a profit, we put more energy into our business, and it "shows" in everything we do.
Quote:
Change your thoughts and you change your world.
Author - Norman Vincent Peale

Right now, especially in the “Holiday Season”, when you have an opportunity to get new clients, it is the perfect time to turn your business around.

Which of these Nail Services are your Specialty? (Where do you make the most money?)
  • Sculptured Nails
  • Pink & White Sculptured Nails
  • Prizma Colour Acrylic Sculptured Nails
  • Gel Nails
  • Nail art
  • Nail Tips with Pink & White Overlays
  • Nail Tips with Prizma Colour Acrylic Overlays
  • Nail Tips with Overlays and then Polished
  • Pedicures
  • Manicures

Choose the Nail "Service" which you are the best at; the Nail "Service" you get the most return customers from; not necessarily the Nail "Service" you like to do most, because this might not be a big money maker, even though it might be more fun.

Once you decide what your Specialty is, you need to PERFECT it even more!

Quote:
My advice is to go into something and stay with it until you like it. You can't like it until you obtain expertise in that work. And once you are an expert, it's a pleasure.

Author - Milton Garland

  • Spend all of your extra time and energy, BECOMING the VERY BEST at ONE TYPE of NAIL SERVICE first.
  • Once you have Mastered this Nail "Service", and you are making a GOOD PROFIT from it, then you can expand to Mastering ONE MORE NAIL SERVICE.
  • When both of your Nail Service Specialties are making Money, then you can add one more Nail "Service", but... be CAREFUL, once a Nail "Service" is not making you a GOOD PROFIT, either Master it so you can charge more, or Stop doing it.

Quote:
Ah, mastery... what a profoundly satisfying feeling when one finally gets on top of a new set of skills... and then sees the light under the new door those skills can open, even as another door is closing.
Author - Gail Sheehy

A business which is making a profit, will flourish. A profitable business is EXCITING and MOTIVATING; this ENERGY, is what keeps your Business Growing and Fun!

NAIL FAQS BLOG: How to get a Crisp Smile-Line

NAIL FAQS BLOG: How to get a Crisp Smile-Line

Tammy Taylor Nails
"Where Nails are Always Fun and Never Feel Like Work"

When doing Pink & White
Acrylic Nails, the Pink Acrylic can run onto your White Free-Edge, causing your White Free-Edge to have a pink cast to it, and making your Smile-Line blurry instead of crisp.
Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981
Q: What is the "Secret" to eliminate a blurry Smile-Line?

A:
Surface Tension is the #1 Secret.
Also, it is important to remember: Don't Place the Pink Acrylic Ball too close to the White Free-edge, and don’t make your Pink Acrylic too thick.

Q: How do I get "
Surface Tension"?

Answer:

Tammy Taylor Pink and White Smile Line Step 1
  • "Place" the Pink Acrylic Ball on the Nail-Bed; leaving a gap between the Pink & the White.
  • Do "Not" Touch the White Free-Edge when Placing your Pink Acrylic Ball.

Tammy Taylor Pink and White Smile Line Step 2

  • "Lift" your brush & Let your Pink Acrylic Ball Flow (count 1-2-3) this develops "Surface Tension".

Tammy Taylor Pink and White Smile Line Step 3

  • "Stroke" your Pink Acrylic Ball using long strokes, stroke right over the top of the White Free-Edge.
  • The "Surface Tension". on the Pink Acrylic Ball will keep the Pink from running onto the White.
  • Finish your Pink and White Acrylic Nails by applying 2 more Pink Acrylic Balls; Place one at the Cuticle Area and Stroke it out, then Place the other one at the Stress Area and Stroke it out.
  • The Tammy Taylor Powders used: Whitest White Nail Powder on the Free-Edge and True Pink on the Nail-Bed.

Have a Great Nail Day,
Tammy Taylor

Business Blog: Improvement is "Daily" and "Continuously"

Every day, we learn and the important thing is what we do with what we learn.
Do we set aside the things we learn and continue on status quo, or do we take the things we learn and improve "Daily" and "Continuously"...

Quote:
"All men make mistakes, but only wise men learn from their mistakes."

Author:

Winston Churchill

When I first started my business, I was only 18 years old, and I had no experience; so I had to learn everything through "Trial and Error"; making mistakes, and then "not repeating the same mistake".

I feel that making mistakes is good for a business, and I have always kept this same philosophy even with my employees; I encourage them to make mistakes because it is one of the best ways to learn but...
I discourage making the same mistake "twice" (as this will hurt a business).

Quote:
"The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing."

Author:

John Powell

I look at creating nails and building a business as a continuous work in progress.
I feel the day we start thinking "This is good enough", and we "Stop Learning", it will be the day we start getting bored, and getting bored can ruin a business; it stifles creativity and motivation.

Even now, after 29 years of doing nails and running my own business, I am still learning and improving "Daily" and "Continuously".
And, having FUN!

With love,
Tammy Taylor

NAIL FAQS BLOG: Build Your Speed

NAIL FAQS BLOG: Build Your Speed

Tammy Taylor Nails
"Where Nails are Always Fun and Never Feel Like Work"

"Perfect Product Consistency is our ultimate goal, but... sometimes it is hard to get the Perfect Ball every time so, if your Acrylic Ball is TOO BIG, or TOO DRY, or TOO LITTLE, just WIPE IT OFF!
Only use Beautiful Acrylic Balls to create your Beautiful Acrylic Nails and your Product Application will be Faster, and you will have less Filing."
Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981
IMPORTANT:
Winter is coming, and the Colder it gets the SLOWER your Nail Liquid is going to set up.
So, before you start your day, hold your closed bottle of Nail Liquid under warm water for about 30 seconds; this will warm up your Nail Liquid and get it ready to do Beautiful Nails.

WATCH YOUR BRUSH:
When you are making an Acrylic Ball, always WATCH YOUR BRUSH as you drag it across your Nail Powder; so you can see the Acrylic Ball as you are making it. Then LOOK at the Acrylic Ball before you place it on the nail; if it is TOO BIG, or TOO DRY, or TOO LITTLE, then WIPE IT OFF, (Do Not Use it, just make a New Acrylic Ball)
A Beautiful Acrylic Ball will have the Look of a "PEARL".

Many of you may have heard me say many times, "Beautiful Balls = Beautiful Nails"; when you can create consistent Beautiful Acrylic "Balls", then you will be able to create "Fast, Beautiful Acrylic Nails".

- Just
click here to view the 3 Minute Tammy Taylor Video: How to Improve Your Product Consistency; Build Your Speed, and Create More Beautiful Nails.

Even if you have been doing nails 20 years, you can increase your speed by watching this short 3-minute video. After 29 years, I still practice on my Practice Sheet to keep up my speed and consistency.

If you would like to receive a FREE Practice Sheet just call
1(800) 93-TAMMY or (949) 250-9287.

Remember:
When your client wants Short Nails, use "Less" Nail Liquid and make "Smaller" Balls and, When your Client wants Longer Nails use "More" Nail Liquid and make "Larger" Balls.
Doing an Acrylic Nail is as Easy as
"Pat the White - Stroke the Pink, 1-2-3-4."

The Tammy Taylor 4 BALL METHOD:

#1 BALL - White Free-edge Ball / the Largest Ball; PAT this Ball into shape

#2 BALL - Pink Ball, used for upper 1/2 of the Nail Body / Smaller, Wetter Ball; STROKE this Ball like applying polish

#3 BALL - Pink Ball, used for the Cuticle Area / Smaller, Wetter Ball; STROKE this Ball like applying polish (apply this Ball 1/32nd of an inch away from the cuticle area)

#4 BALL - Pink Ball, used to build up the Stress Area / Smallest, Wettest Ball; STROKE this Ball over the entire Nail (place the #4 Ball between the #2 and #3 Balls almost at the Cuticle area)

Have a Great Nail Day,
Tammy Taylor

"Rollercoaster Ride Effect"

When you can eliminate the "Rollercoaster Ride Effect" you will have the time and energy to take advantage of more opportunities to build your business.

When you have 1 "great" busy week, then 1 bad "slow" week, or 1 bad "slow month", then 1 "great busy month", and so on... this is what I call the “Rollercoaster Ride Effect".
Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981
This Rollercoaster Ride makes you tired, stressed and worried about whether you will be able to cover your bills; since you are not sure if you are going to have a high "busy" week or a low "slow" week.

This is especially the case in the Salon Business; Nail Technicians book clients every 2 weeks, so what ends up happening; 1 week is jam-packed with clients (there isn't even an appt. available for a New Client, a Walk-in or a repair) then the next week is so slow it is like a ghost town.

This cycle is not only tiring and self-defeating for you, but... it is also discouraging for clients who want to get an appointment to see you.
How often on these busy weeks have you had to turn down new clients... and you think, where were they last week when my business was slow…

Quote:
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
Author: Coach Darrell Royal

2-week standing Clients need to be spread out; HALF of the 2-week Clients need to be scheduled on ONE week and the other HALF of the 2-week Clients need to be scheduled on the NEXT week.

By spreading out Clients, you will know what your guaranteed income is every week (which gets you off the Rollercoaster), and it gives you the extra time availability in your schedule every day, so you can fit in "New" Clients, Walk-ins and repairs, which is crucial in order to keep your business healthy and growing.

Quote:
I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.
Author: Thomas Jefferson

When we stay consistently busy, working every day, and there is energy and excitement going on, it will create more energy and more excitement; which attracts "more" business and "new" customers.

Tammy Taylor

FABULOUS!

Quote:

Author: Jonatan Martensson

On those days when it is hard to get going, we cannot be thinking about the long list of things we need to do; instead, we need to get started on just "ONE" THING!

Remember: the Tiniest Little Bit of Energy, Creates More Energy!

"ANY" ONE THING WILL DO:

  • Get out of bed because you are needed
  • Go to work and finish one project
  • Go to the gym and ride the bike for only 10 minutes

This gets us out the door!

Then once we get started, we get involved in everything going on, and this gets us energized.

Then we start thinking, as long as I am doing this, I might as well do just a little more... and a little more...
And... before we know it, we are having a Full, Fun and Fabulous day.

With love,
Tammy Taylor

If You are Available the Customers Will Come...

To stay competitive "MORE than ever before", we need to make ourselves more available to our customers and make everything more convenient for our customers.Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

Are you in your business working at least 40 Hours a week?
Do your customers know what Days and Hours you are at work?
Do your co-workers know what Days and Hours you will be at work?

Quote:
"You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others. That’s the mark of a true professional. Professionalism has nothing to do with getting paid for your services."
Author- Joe Paterno

In order to keep Clients and build a Clientele, customers need to know what Days and Hours you will be at work.
Let's say your customer is out doing errands, or they get off work early and they feel spontaneous and would like to have a service done, or buy some products, but they don't know your schedule. (you don’t want them to go somewhere else)...

Or...
A New "potential" customer is walking by your business and they are trying to find your hours, so they can come back later.

Anyone trying to run a business "without" having designated Days and Hours will have a tougher time "building" a Clientele and keeping a Clientele, especially in this New Economy.

Here are a few things that are very important to help you stay competitive and keep your business prospering:
  1. Make sure your Days and Hours are posted where your Clients and "potential" customers can see them; like on your business card, your website and all promotional material.
  2. Always be at your business during these times, even if you are not busy or if you get cancellations.
  3. Answer phone calls when you are not with a customer instead of letting it go to voice mail, and when they do need go to voice mail call them back immediately when you get a break.
  4. Make sure the Receptionist and all of your Co-Workers know your schedule and have your Cell#, in case a customer needs an appt. or has a question.

I have found through years of experience; even when you do not have appointments, "if you are at your business" and ready for customers "the customers will come"!

Create Your Own Work Environment
  • Some people like it calm
  • Some people like it exciting
  • Some people like a higher stress

Whatever environment helps you do your best is the environment you can create.Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

Now you might be thinking:
- My environment at work is determined by all those around me.
- But... It isn't; that is "their" environment "not" yours.

Our environment is directly related to HOW WE REACT to situations and HOW WE ACT towards others…
"Not", how others act.

The greatest thing about creating our own environment is we "are" in control; which makes everything so much "more" fun, and we are "more" productive.
Have you ever been around someone who stays calm, cool and collected even in the craziest situations...

Or...

A person who has so much energy it feels like a whirlwind when they walk in the room…

Both have created their own environment.

Quote:

...The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

Author: Charles R. Swindoll

Figure out what your favorite most productive environment is, then start creating this environment today; with your every Action and every Reaction.

You will see "immediate" results, and you will start having more fun!

Bring Your "A" Game

To really ENJOY our Jobs and our Businesses, we need to make the Decision to Bring our "A" Game, every day!
This is the difference between just being good enough, and being GREAT.
Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981
When we GIVE the VERY BEST of OUR ABILITY EVERY DAY TO OUR LIFE, we will see a huge difference in our "motivation" to go to work; our "excitement" level in what we are doing at work; the "quality" of work we do, and the "customer service" we give.

The Enjoyment and Satisfaction in our Job, is directly related to giving the VERY BEST of OUR ABILITY EVERY DAY.

Quote:
"In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is:
hit the line hard."

Author: Theodore Roosevelt

Whenever we do something and we do it only good enough to get by, there is never a feeling of accomplishment or satisfaction, while we are doing it, nor even when we have finished.

This is how Jobs become just that - Jobs...

When a Job is being done just good enough to get by, it is no longer a career, or a source of enjoyment; it is only a means of getting by, and there is "no satisfaction in doing something just good enough".

Quote:

"One of the great undiscovered joys of life comes from doing everything one attempts to the best of one's ability. There is a special sense of satisfaction, a pride in surveying such a work, a work which is rounded, full, exact, complete in its parts, which the superficial person who leaves his or her work in a slovenly, slipshod, half-finished condition, can never know. It is this conscientious completeness which turns any work into art. The smallest task, well done, becomes a miracle of achievement."

Author: Og Mandino

BRING YOUR "A" GAME TODAY; you will be amazed at how much more fun you will have in your work and the satisfaction you will get from it.

With love,
Tammy Taylor

Coupon Usage Up 37%...

Would you like to increase your business?
But… you aren't real sure how to go about it?
Even if you do not have extra time, or extra money to do promotions...
Or, maybe you feel shy talking to people outside of your business...
You can still increase your business.Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

You can INCREASE your business by promoting the products and services you offer with COUPONS and getting REFERRALS from your already existing clients; "who already love you".

"NCH Marketing Services, a division of Valassis Communications in Livonia, Mich., says consumers saved nearly $2 billion with coupons in the first half of 2010, a 37 percent increase over pre-recession levels, according to its mid-year Coupon Facts Report.
This report also revealed that 176 billion coupons were offered in the first half of 2010, up from 158 billion a year ago."

As you can see, consumers are using Coupons more and more; what a great opportunity to increase your business.

We want our Coupon Customers to keep coming back, and we want to give our Existing Customers an opportunity to save money as well; so we need an On-Going Coupon Offer, which Offers 2 Different Types of Coupons:

#1 COUPON: This will be your NEW CUSTOMER ONLY COUPON (have your customers give these to their family and friends)

#2 COUPON: This will be your REFERRAL COUPON (give out to your customers when they send you a Referral)

How can you get your On-Going Coupon Offer in Motion?

NEW Customers:

  • When a New Customer comes in with their NEW CUSTOMER ONLY COUPON we need them to keep coming back.
  • You already know this customer likes Coupons so why not give them an opportunity to earn more Coupons...
  • Explain to this New Customer they can continue to get Coupons, if they send you Referrals

EXISTING Customers:

  • Have any of your Existing Customers ever expressed things are getting tighter and they have to watch their budget?
  • Your REFERRAL COUPON can help them...
  • Explain to your Existing Customers; if they will pass out your New Customer Coupons to their friends and family and get you "Referrals", you will give them a REFERRAL COUPON for every customer they refer to you.

The easiest way to figure out what to offer on your Coupons is to go through all of the Coupons you receive for the next 2 weeks; save the ones you like and would use yourself; then design your Coupons like the Coupons you like to use.

Have Fun and Use Your Creativity.

With love,
Tammy Taylor

Customers 1st

Taking care of Customers 1st is the WAY TO BUILD A "STRONG" BUSINESS!
Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981
In today's business environment everything is so fast, and many times it seems like the bottom line $ "profit" is the only "motivation". However, without "happy" customers, there will eventually be no $ profit.

A Strong Business is "Built" on Building Relationships with Customers, and Getting Referrals.

Customers need to be treated like a friend; a friend who is appreciated; someone we would like to see coming back, for at least 20 years.
Isn't "Customer Service" really just a modern word for "Old Fashioned Hospitality"...

The dictionary meaning of hospitality:
(hos·pi·tal·i·ty)
1. the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers.
2. the quality or disposition of receiving and treating guests and strangers in a warm, friendly, generous way.

Here are a few ideas of taking care of customers with "Old Fashioned Hospitality":
  • Graciously Giving a few extra moments of our time; as Time is the most valuable thing we can give our customers.
  • Slowing down and taking the time to listen to what the customer is saying:
  • - Do they have a problem or complaint; if so take it seriously and take the time to take care of it immediately.
  • - Does the customer need an explanation or clarification on a product or service which is offered; if so take the time to thoroughly explain until the customer feels they fully understand.
  • -Or, Does the customer just want to express how much they enjoy doing business with you; if so take the time to enjoy the moment and accept the accolades.

Customer service should never be determined by how much $ money a customer is spending...
- Or depend on how much someone gets paid to take care of a customer...

What about Customer Service which is done out of sheer love for the customer; Wouldn't this be what true Customer Service is about...

Quote:
Hospitality should have no other nature than love.
- Author: Henrietta Mears

Our level of “Customer Service"/"Old Fashioned Hospitality" determines whether our customers will want to come back, and especially whether they will tell their friends, and send referrals.

What does “Customer Love” and "Old Fashioned Hospitality" look like to you?

With love,
Tammy Taylor

Gratitude reflects in our Attitude...

I was reading an article about gratitude and I started wondering "How much does being grateful really affect our happiness and can this affect our job and our business?"Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

So, I started thinking about all the times I feel really happy, and the times I don’t feel as happy, and I put them into 2 categories:
Category #1 "When I feel the HAPPIEST”

Category #2 "When I don’t feel as happy”

And... as I wrote my list, I was really surprised, because it became very clear to see:
Our level of Gratitude really can affect our job and our business.
When I feel the HAPPIEST is when I am feeling the most grateful; I am more productive in my work, I have more patience, I have more energy and I am more grateful to the people around me.

Quote:
In our daily lives, we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but the gratefulness that makes us happy.
-Author: Albert Clarke

Something else I observed, which I thought was interesting: The most grateful people I know are also the happiest people I know, and there was no connection to how much money they had, what type of job they had, or how educated they were.

Quote:
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance,
Chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow.
- Author: Melody Beattie

I was also thinking about: We not only need to be grateful for our own blessings, but we need to express our gratitude to those around us.

Quote:
Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
- Author: William Arthur Ward

Some interesting statistics from a 2002 Public Agenda survey;
48% of adults expressed only "sometimes" did they encounter people who made an effort to say "please" and "thank you"
And...
16% of these adults said they "practically never" encounter people who made an effort to say "please" and "thank you”.

Here are 4 things we can do to help our "GRATITUDE reflect in our ATTITUDE":

#1 Take the time to express gratitude and appreciation, to the people around us each day

#2 Literally, Count all of the good things that happen each day

#3 Write down 5 of these good things that happened the day before, in a journal each day

#4 Go back to #1 and start again each day

Quote:
It is impossible to feel grateful and depressed in the same moment.
- Author: Naomi Williams

Why is it important to write down all the good things that happen every day in a journal?
Because we have a tendency to dwell on the bad stuff and we easily forget the good things that happen; we need to have a daily reminder of all the good things that have happened in the past so we stay positive and focus on all of the good things that are going to happen today, and... in the future.

Tammy Taylor

Psalms 9:1-2
I will thank you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.

The Direction of Your Dreams...

The Direction of Your Dreams...

What are your Dreams for your Job; For your Career; For your Business...
Do the decisions you make, take you in the direction of your Dreams?Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

Quote:
Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.
Author - Peter Drucker

Be pro-active in your job, in your business, and in your career; get involved, make decisions, help improve the things around you; you will become a better co-worker, employer, manager.

Quote:
I've found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.
Author - Brian Tracy

However...
Sometimes when we get involved and make decisions, things do "not" turn out as good as we planned, and when this happens it could make us afraid of making future decisions. We might think that it would be better to stop getting involved, stop trying to help, just mind our own business, and whatever happens, happens.
But...
Remember: "Not" making a decision is a decision in itself.

Quote:
The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.
Author - Elbert Hubbard

Successful business people have learned: make decisions; do not be afraid of making mistakes; do not be afraid of what people might think; do not be afraid of showing your weaknesses.

Even if you make the wrong decision, do not worry about it; you want to shake things up and change things around; change is how you grow and change is how you help the people around you grow.

Quote:
If you obey all the rules, you'll miss all the fun.
Author - Katharine Hepburn

More good stuff happens by taking action, than bad stuff. The reason why we remember more of the bad stuff is: we dwelled on it for so long, it is ingrained into our brain; but... the good stuff that happens, we just think about for a few minutes and forget about it.

Quote:
If I could go back in time and fix all the mistakes I made, I wouldn't because it has made me who I am today.

Especially in those times when you start doubting yourself, when it seems like things have not worked out the way you planned or the things you are doing don’t seem like enough:
Keep taking chances - Keep making mistakes - Keep trying to make things better...
Keep Making Decisions, which take you in the Direction of Your Dreams...
And, you will Succeed!

with love,
Tammy Taylor

Are Your Goals too High...

Are Your Goals too High...

Quitting before a Dream has been achieved is probably done 80% more often than Dreams that are actually achieved.
So...
Why do so many Dreams Fail?
Because we set our goals too high. (When a goal is set too high, it is frustrating and becomes too hard to achieve.)Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981

We need Small Goals...
And, a BIG DREAM!
Quote:
If you can DREAM it, you can DO it.
Author: Walt Disney

Dreams are built on accomplishing one small goal at a time; then strung together like a pearl necklace, one small pearl (one small goal) strung together with one more small pearl (one more small goal), and before you know it you have a beautiful pearl necklace (your Dream has come true).

Quote:
A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.
Author: Antoine de Saint-Exupery

We need to have Big Dreams; Dreams are Motivating, Fun and Exciting, but only if we see ourselves getting a little closer to our dream each day, does it stay Exciting.

By "Setting Small Goals" each day, that we know we can accomplish; and which directly pertain to our Dream, we will be able to see ourselves getting a little closer to our Dream each day; this is how we will stay motivated "not" to quit.

Quote:
"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment."
Author: Jim Rohn

Not Finishing the small goals is the Number #1 Dream killer; so Never leave your goal for the day unfinished, no matter what it takes, FINISH it; this is how we teach ourselves to start and FINISH "one" goal at a time.
And... when we learn how to start and FINISH "one" small goal each day... We Will Achieve Our Dreams!

Quote:
Remember, what you get by reaching your destination isn't nearly as important as what you become by reaching your goals - what you will become is the winner you were born to be!
Author: Zig Ziglar

What is your dream?
What small goal can you FINISH today, that takes you one step closer to your
Dream?
Dream Big!

with love,
Tammy Taylor

Galatians 6:9 So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged
and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

Your First Instinct...

Your First Instinct...

Your First Instinct...

Have you ever made a decision where you didn't go with your first instinct...Tammy Taylor - CEO, Tammy Taylor Nails Inc. - Entrepreneur and Business Owner since 1981
Quote:
Trust your gut.
Author - Barbara Walters

Have you ever changed your decision just to make someone else happy...
Quote:
Please all, and you will please none.
Author - Aesop

Most of the time our first instinct is correct so why do we doubt ourselves...
And, when we doubt ourselves how often do we end up making the wrong decision...
However, when we go with our first instinct, think of all the good things that come from it.
Quote:
Trusting our intuition often saves us from disaster.
Author - Anne Wilson Schaef

I was thinking about my Blog "Step Back" where I was talking about writing a letter to our younger selves, and I was thinking there were so many times when I was young, I would want to go back and tell my younger self "trust your instincts, go with your first decision".
Quote:
I go by instinct. ... I don't worry about experience.
Author - Barbra Streisand

Now, making important decisions is "not" something "to just do quickly"; we always need to look at the Pro's and the Con's and the effects this decision will make. But our "first" instinct is correct the "majority" of the time.

#1 When making an important decision, write down what your first instinct was

#2 Write down all the good positive things, which will come from your decision
#3 Write down any negatives, which will come from your decision (not things you think might happen, only what you know for sure)

Then you can make your decision, but make "your own" decision!
Quote:
"Most decisions are seat-of-the-pants judgments. You can create a rationale for anything. In the end, most decisions are based on intuition and faith."
Author - Nathan Myhrvold in "The Microsoft Provocateur"

You know yourself... You know your business... You know your clients..., better than anyone else..., so "trust yourself" and don't second guess your decisions... "You are the one" who will make the best choices "for you".

With love,
Tammy Taylor

James 1:5-6 If you need wisdom--if you want to know what God wants you to do--ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.
But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
