It Only Takes 5 Minutes a Day...

How would you like to get 365 Things Completed on Your "TO DO LIST" in Less Than 5 Minutes a Day!

Success comes to the person who does today what you were thinking about doing tomorrow."

Tammy TaylorWell I am going to share with you my Secret, that I do every single day; it is called "ONE MORE THING"; and how I came up with this, was one day I was looking at my TO DO LIST and I got so overwhelmed I did not want to do anything, so I didn't. I put away the TO DO LIST and went shopping. BUT the problem was, the next day my TO DO LIST was still there; it did not go away, even though I chose to ignore it, it is kind of like dirty dishes they don't just go away.

So, I was thinking if I feel like this, then I know a lot of people probably have felt like this; so I want to share with you how I conquered the BIG BAD "TO DO LIST" MONSTER. I decided to do it "ONE THING AT-A-TIME". Now I know you have heard that said a million times "do one thing at a time", and you are probably thinking "OH Sure, it is not that simple when your TO DO LIST is a mile long".

"Never try to solve all the problems at once — make them line up for you one-by-one.
— Richard Sloma

Well actually it is. What accomplished more: Putting my BIG BAD "TO DO LIST” in my drawer and going shopping, or "DO ONE THING"? Exactly: Doing "ONE" THING accomplishes more.

Maybe it is not as fun as shopping at the time, but I knew I would feel a lot better when I see my BIG BAD "TO DO LIST" getting done. So I decided to try the "ONE MORE THING" theory out, and see if I could get my BIG BAD "TO DO LIST" down to a block instead of a mile.

“Anything worth doing is worth doing now!"
— Ralph Stayer

The way I started was by DOING "ONE MORE THING" at the end of each Day.
My Personal TO DO LIST
Day 1 = 5 minutes to Clean out one junk drawer
Day 2 = 5 minutes to Drop off shoes at the shoe repair
Day 3 = 5 minutes to Call and make the Dentist appts.
Day 5 = 5 minutes to Send a Birthday card to my Sister
Day 6 = 5 minutes to Reply to one extra email
Day 7 = 5 minutes to Check my son's grades on line
Day 8 etc, etc...

The thing about My Work TO DO LIST: I seem to get this list done, so it does not get as long as my Personal TO DO LIST. But I decided to use the same DO "ONE MORE THING" a day concept at my work; to see if it would make a difference, and YES, it made a huge difference; I felt like I started the next day already ahead of schedule, just by doing "ONE" 5 MINUTE THING EACH DAY BEFORE I LEFT WORK; it was HUGE. Not only did it keep me from getting a BIG BAD TO DO LIST, it gave me an extra boost of energy when I started my day ONE THING AHEAD.

DOING "ONE MORE THING" at the end of each Work Day
Day 1 = 5 minutes to Return one more phone call
Day 2 = 5 minutes to Reply to one more email
Day 3 = 5 minutes to Test one more batch of product
Day 5 = 5 minutes to Talk to one more of my employees
Day 6 = 5 minutes to File one more paper
Day 7 = 5 minutes to do extra Cleaning on my desk
Day 8 etc, etc…

"A good plan implemented today is better than a perfect plan implemented tomorrow."
— George Patton

So, if you do not want to get overwhelmed, and you want to stay ahead, it only takes 5 Minutes a Day to do "ONE MORE THING", and I guarantee you will see huge results in just one month.

So, start now and you will conquer the BIG BAD TO DO LIST "MONSTER"!

with love,
Tammy Taylor

Use Your Special Talent This Week...

Make Someone Happy and Make Yourself Happy

Do one thing for 1 person this week that makes them SMILE and I GUARANTEE you will SMILE.

Use Your Special Talent This Week To Make Someone Happy.

  • You have many Special Talents that you might not think are Talents because you have probably had them your entire life, but believe it or not there are 1,000,000's of people who do not have all of your Special Talents.

  • What better way to make yourself realize how Special your Talents really are than to share them, because when you see how happy you can make someone else with your Talents it gives you a whole new appreciation.

  • I know that is why I love the Nail Business so much: because what I do makes others Happy, so it makes me Happy. Tammy Taylor

When I am doing my classes, I am teaching Beauty Professionals how to make a career doing Beautiful Nails, and they get so excited when they realize they can make a living doing what they love; when I write my emails and Blogs helping others have more successful businesses, and when my clients send me responses letting me know that I really am helping them and their businesses, it makes me happy.

When I first started in the Beauty business 28 years ago, what really got me hooked was when I would make my client's short, chewed off nails Beautiful and they would get so excited, I could see how much their confidence was immediately boosted; or one of my clients would come into my salon sad and need someone to talk to; I just encouraged them to talk for an hour while I did their nails, and when they left they had a brand new outlook.

So, if you are trying to figure out what your Special Talents are, THINK about the things you do that make others happy, and those things are your Special Talents.

Is Your Talent Organization?
Help your unorganized girlfriend clean out her closet and organize it for her

Is Your Talent Patience?
Babysit your nieces and nephews for the night to give your sister a break

Is Your Talent Cooking?
Bake a delicious Cake and take it to work
Cook dinner for a sick friend

Is Your Talent Technology?
Fix your Mom and Dad's broken computer (if it is not really broken, maybe you could just take an hour and show them how to send an email)

Is Your Talent Listening?
Listen to a neighbor who might be lonely
Invite a friend out to coffee that you know needs a break

Is Your Talent Motivating People?
Talk to someone who seems sad and give them encouragement
Take the time to chew someone out when they are off track, and when you see them get back on track you are both happy

Is your Talent Writing?
Send a letter or an email to someone who needs a little lift

If your Talent is that you are a Business Owner then:
If you are a Nail Tech - Do a Free Pedicure on an elderly person or a single Mom this week
If you are an accountant - Do one free tax return this week
If you own a restaurant - Invite the single parent family down the street for a free dinner this week

Do one extra thing for 1 person this week that makes them Happy, and I GUARANTEE it will make you Happy TOO.

with love,

Tammy Taylor

If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching.

If your gift is to encourage others, do it! If you have money, share it generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Pay Attention to the LITTLE Things!!!

Pay Attention to Your Business, and Your Business Will Pay You Back

It is very easy to blame the economy right now if your business is down, and probably no one would contradict you; they would probably agree with you; it is a lot easier to ignore the problems, justify the drop off in customers and accept the complacency of those around you, instead of doing something about it.

Successful businesses do not give themselves the luxury of blaming the economy; instead, they are always adapting and making the changes needed to keep their business growing. Making changes gets people out of their comfort zone; and when people are forced out of their comfort zone, they become more creative, and start thinking about what they can do, NOT what they can't do.

Tammy TaylorWhether you are the owner or an employee, the key is to care about your business! This is not just a job, this is your career; and the more you put into it, the more successful you will be.

Desire is the key to motivation, but its determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal -- a commitment to excellence -- that will enable you to attain the success you seek." --Mario Andretti

The people around you want a leader, no matter how much kicking and screaming they do. When there is a leader that does not complain, and does not let the people around them complain, and instead: Motivates the people around them; everyone will start doing a better job.

It is not the big things that make THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE in your business, it is the SMALL THINGS. And the greatest thing about the SMALL THINGS is they cost the least amount of money, but: Small things take more ENERGY.

When everything is organized and clean around you, it gives you more ENERGY and, the CREATIVITY that you need to make your business grow.

Here are the 5 most important SMALL things you can CHANGE TODAY; that will make THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE in your business:

Is the front of the business dirty: The solution is to clean the sidewalk, the doorway and the windows, at least 3 days a week.

Are the bathrooms dirty: The solution is to clean and disinfect the bathrooms once a day, but do check them 2-3 times a day.

Are the walls inside dirty: The solution is to check all the walls once a week; and anything you can’t clean, should be painted. Keep a small jar of paint and a paintbrush to do touch ups.

Ripped or dirty cushions and furniture: The solution is to throw them away and get new ones, or have them professionally cleaned and repaired.

Are there cluttered messes: The solution is to spend an hour a week just getting rid of old magazines, old flower vases, advertisements, handwritten signs and anything that does not look professional.

If you are not the person in charge and you know these things need to be done, have a talk with the person in charge and OFFER to help. This will get the person in charge motivated, because someone cares enough to ask and because you are getting it all started; you will also be motivated! Motivation will generate into more motivation.

REMEMBER! Pay attention to the LITTLE things, so they do not become big things. Now you are on your way to keeping your business healthy, strong and continuing to grow.

With love,

Tammy Taylor
