Stay Positive, Pumped Up and Ready to Win!

"Thinking Positive Needs a Positive Action to Put it Into Play, while
Thinking Positive "without" Any Positive Action is just Wishful Thinking"

Like a football game and
the coach is pumping up his team, getting them ready for the big game; Tammy Taylor
"Okay Team, stay POSITIVE, remember, you are the best, you are the most talented, you have practiced longer and worked harder than any other team and today we are going to WIN!" and the Team knows they are ready and they are PUMPED UP and READY to WIN!
But, they never leave the locker room!

We aren't going to WIN without playing the game; but, if we play in the game, we also have a chance we might lose.

Thinking Positive doesn't always mean we will win every time, but we will get in the middle of the game and POSITIVELY give it our 100% every single time; giving us a 100% chance that we could WIN!
BUT, Not even leaving the locker room will give us a GUARANTEED LOSS.

Getting up every morning and saying I will choose to stay Positive today, no matter what happens will help make our quality of life better.

Negative Thinking and a Self Defeating attitude causes a lot of stress; and, when we are under a lot of stress, our immune system gets run down; making us more prone to all of the dangerous viruses that are spreading so quickly. It could very well be possible that all the added stress people are under right now, could be helping these viruses spread.

"Every day we all have problems and challenges and possibly disappointments, but, the only difference in each of us, is how we deal with them."

Quote:
"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results."

Author:Willie Nelson

Thinking Positive and saying: "I CAN deal with this, and I WILL deal with this"; gives us a 100% starting chance that we will conquer these problems and challenges, than if, when a problem arises, we start Thinking Negatively and saying:
"I Can't deal with this, and, I won't deal with this, because this is not fair"; then we have already self defeated ourselves, giving ourselves no chance.

"Thinking Positive Does Not Solve Our Problems, but, Thinking Positively Makes Us More Positive; so We Can Conquer Our Problems"

Thinking Positive? or Denial?
Example:
The Bills are due and I go on a $500.00 Shopping Spree, and put it on my credit card; saying to myself, "something will work out because I am Thinking Positive".
This is not Thinking Positive, this is DENIAL.

OR…

The Bills are due and I am Thinking Positive; I say:"If I STAY POSITIVE and do not get discouraged, I can put together a plan and try to conquer this".
This will give me 100% better chance to conquer the problem, than doing nothing.
This is Positive Thinking.

To be more pro-active and to know you are doing everything you can, you need to show up at work every day and tell yourself, "I will POSITIVELY give 100% today", and before you leave work, do ONE MORE THING; so you start the next day ONE THING AHEAD.
Then, when you leave work you will feel better about yourself and your accomplishments; which will help you KEEP YOUR POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

Quote
:
"It is important that you recognize your progress and take pride in your accomplishments. Share your achievements with others. Brag a little. The recognition and support of those around you is nurturing."

Author: Rosemarie Rossetti

Matthew 7:7-11"Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened.

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

You parents-if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?

Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!

You know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Consistency: Boring?

Consistency: Boring?

Consistency is how we build our business
Consistency is how we create good leadership
Consistency is how we raise our children
Consistency is how we further our education
Consistency is how we stay healthy

Consistency gives our life balance and keeps us grounded. Tammy Taylor

We know we need consistency each day, but we get bored;
Excitement is what we want!

Here is good little story:
The Ants and the Grasshopper
The ants were busy every day working - carrying one grain at a time and storing away for winter. The grasshopper just wanted some excitement and to have fun; he thought the ants were boring.

Months passed; the grasshopper had been having lots of fun and the ants had just kept working consistently; and then when winter came the ants had plenty of food and the grasshopper was dying of hunger.

-Now I don’t want to be the ants or the grasshopper I want to have Excitement and fun and I want the results of consistent behavior without the boredom of consistency.
I want both!

We have a little saying in our family "every day can't be a party", which to us means we can't eat Chocolate fudge sundays everyday, but we can once a week; or we can't be lazy and just play video games all day, but we can for just a little while each day; or we can't skip working out every day, but we can skip it once a week.

I call it the 80/20 RULE

I use 80/20 RULE with a lot of things and it is really pretty accurate.

I need a healthy balance of Consistency and Excitement
80% Consistency (the Now) and 20% Excitement (the WOW)

The WOW can be anything we want to make exciting.
In our job we know we have to do our everyday responsibilities, but we need to set apart time to have some fun at work, and to work on NEW and Exciting things.

A business has to have 80% Consistency (the NOW) in order to run smoothly, but it also needs the 20% Excitement (the WOW), so people do not get bored.

Clients and employees like the 80% Consistency (the NOW), because they can depend on it; Consistency makes them feel secure, but they also need the 20% Excitement (the WOW), or they will get bored and look for excitement somewhere else.

ON THE FLIP SIDE:
If 8O% is Excitement (the WOW) and only 20% Consistency (the NOW), then you will not have a solid company; the infrastructure will be weak and there is no consistency making clients and employees feel insecure.

For example: When building a house that is made to last, about 80% of the budget has to be to build a strong, firm foundation and infrastructure, then about 20% of the budget, the WOW, can be for the cosmetics, the special things that make it different and special from the rest.

ON THE FLIP SIDE:
If it was built with only 20% spent on a firm foundation and infrastructure, and 80% was all cosmetic, superficially just to look good, it will come crumbling down.

Another Example:
How about when we are building a beautiful set of sculptured nails in one hour:
60 minutes x 80% = 48 minutes of our time will be spent on Consistency, building the strong foundation and structure so the nails will last.
And 20% = 12 minutes of our time will be spent on the WOW, customizing the shape and the color for each customer.

The structure and the Consistency is the same for every client but the WOW; the shape and the color is customized for every client.

So we NEED BOTH; we NEED Consistency (the NOW), and we NEED Excitement (the WOW), or nothing we do will have balance.

Keeping things in perspective with the 80/20 rule: Can help give us the Excitement we need to keep us from getting bored, and the Consistency, the structure and the security that we need for balance.
Yes, We Can Have Both!

With love,
Tammy Taylor

Ecclesiastes 5:19

Is This Client Worth It!

Is This Client Worth It!

When I was first starting out building my business over 28 years ago, I was so excited and I wanted to do everything for my clients. Anything that would make them happy made me happy. I did not have a lot of clients when I first started, so I had to make every single client I did have, feel like they were my only client and they were the most important person to me in the world. I wanted to make sure they would come back because I could not afford to lose one single client.Tammy Taylor

Quote:
Revolve your world around the customer and more customers will revolve around you.
-Heather Williams

I had to do a lot of work just to get one customer because there were about 20 nail salons within a 2 mile radius of me and the competition was tough. I would make time every day to pass out flyers, pass out business cards, give out 2 for 1 coupons; and do referral incentive programs.

There would be many days I would come in without a single client on my books for that day, but I never got negative; I stayed positive and excited about what I was doing.

Quote:
If you work just for money, you’ll never make it, but if you love what you’re doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours.
-Ray Kroc

It did not take long for me to get booked solid because my customer service was excellent.

My clients knew how important they were to me and they enjoyed coming to see me. I was always accommodating and happy and excited about them coming to me and letting me do their nails. They would have fun and forget the rest of the world; for one hour; because their hour with me was all about them and only them.

Quote:
We see our customers as invited guests to a party, and we are the hosts. It’s our job every day to make every important aspect of the customer experience a little bit better.
-Jeff Bezos

And then my big mistake happened that took all of the fun out of my business and ruined my customer service:

My Business was doing great and I was booked solid. I was even turning down clients and still making a lot of money.

But as time went on I started to get a little arrogance about myself, I thought my business was all about me, and I forgot that my business is all about my client. If my client canceled, came in late, bounced a check, or started getting too picky, or complaining, I wouldn’t give them another apppointment. I would tell them, “I will just replace you with someone on my waiting list.” I started having zero tolerance.

My clients started trying to do everything to make me happy instead of me trying to make them happy!

Now this only lasted a little while because when I started getting arrogant with my clients, I also started getting burned out, and I started complaining; that’s when business started dropping.

The more it became about me and not about my clients, I started falling out of love with my clients, and I became more critical of everything they did; they could do nothing right.
WHEN THE LOVE DECREASES THE CRITICIZM INCREASES

This can happen even to the best customer service person. But the great thing is too learn from it and become better.

When I saw how my attitude was affecting my business and my happiness with my job, I knew I had to change. At first I did not realize what it was I had to change; I thought I had to change my clients and then my schedule; everything else except me.

When things were not getting better, I had to think back why was I so happy when I started out? Even if I didn’t make a lot of money, I enjoyed what I was doing.

That's when I realized I had forgotten my simple philosophy from when I first started “MY BUSINESS IS ABOUT MY CLIENT and NOT ABOUT ME."

Every day we have to run our business like we are just starting and we do not have any clients. And when we get a New Client, we have to treat them like they are our ONLY Client and our Existing Clients are Golden; and we need to continue to always treat them like they are our ONLY client.

No matter how big or how small our businesses are, we have nothing without our clients.

So the question is:
IS THIS CLIENT WORTH IT?
And the answer is:
YES! ALWAYS!

With love,
Tammy Taylor

MANDATORY TIME OUT

Click here to have the Blog Narrated to You by Tammy Taylor
Now Works On Your Mobile Phone

"MANDATORY TIME OUT" (a day to relax, even if there are a million things that need to get done)

Busy people need to have at least one day a week to relax, to re-energize and to get organized for the week.

Quote:
"Burn brightly, without burning out." – Author- Richard Biggs

I realized how fast of a pace we live in when a couple of years ago my Tammy Tayloryoungest son, who was 13 at the time, and my nephew who was 12, were sitting in the back seat of my SUV with a couple of their friends and they were saying: "this school year is flying by so fast, it seems like we just started school and it is almost summer".

When I heard this I was shocked, I remembered back when I was a kid and time just crawled by, I never thought school would end, and it seemed like forever before summer was here; then when summer finally came, half way through I didn't think summer would ever end. Everything just seemed to move at a slower pace.

This is really something to think about. Have you ever heard the saying "when you are really busy, time flies", but I knew we were way to busy when time was flying by so fast, even my children were feeling it.

I got so wound up with the fast pace of the world I was creating the same fast pace for my family, so I started slowing down my pace and my families pace with my mandatory "TIME OUT DAY" (the day to relax, even if there are a million things that need to get done)

My children and my husband need this down-time to relax, just as much as I do, and even though they don’t like mandatory "TIME OUT DAY", I know they need it.

Quote:
"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it."
Author- Sydney J. Harris

My "TIME OUT DAY" also helped me at work, because I didn’t come to work tired anymore.

When I am not tired, I have More patience, More Productivity and I am More Positive and More Creative.

We must organize our time and be the master of our time, rather than becoming a slave to the constant demands on our time, or we are going to wear ourselves out. I know I have to put everything into perspective every day, and only do the important things that need to get done that day first; if there is any time left I can fit in a couple of little extra things, but I do not allow myself to get over scheduled.

When we are NOT Organized: we feel like we have too much going on, and we get tired and overwhelmed easier.

When we ARE Organized: we get more done in less time, and we are less tired.

Have you ever heard the saying “if you want something done, ask a busy person".

The busier someone is, the more organized they have to be; if they were not organized they would be exhausted and not able to do half as much as they do.

Being organized also means organizing FREE TIME just to RELAX.

A busy person has to schedule in time to relax, or they will be like the energizer bunny when the battery wears down: they just collapse.

This is the way I get the extra time I need to continue to have my "TIME OUT DAY" every week: I use a little part of my "TIME OUT DAY" to get my week organized, and getting organized makes my week more productive. This in turn gives me the extra time I need.

This is what I do on my average, mandatory "TIME OUT DAY":

#1. I have to rest (no schedule allowed)

#2. I Make my list of what needs to get done that next week (organizing the everyday responsibilities)

#3. I Make my list of the extra stuff that I need to get done that next week (organizing the special projects or appointments etc…) When my schedule is full (that is when I say no more), I put what is left onto the following weeks list.

What I have found by making myself take one mandatory "TIME OUT DAY" a week, I get more done in those other 6 days than I use to get done in 10 days, because I am not tired and I am more organized.

Have a Great Week.
With love,
Tammy Taylor

Hebrews 4:10

For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.

Is There Anyone Who Can Push Your Buttons......

Click here to have the Blog Narrated to You by Tammy Taylor

Is There Anyone Who Can Push Your Buttons......
Can they get you from HAPPY to MAD IN LESS THAN 30 SECONDS!

Quote:
"For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind."
Author, Ralph Waldo Emerson Tammy Taylor

Being angry is always a waste of our time and our energy but, Button Pushers are everywhere, and they are in all of our lives.

These people can remind us of the 5th grade bully, who would say hurtful things just to get attention, or punch someone because they were angry or they would be hateful to someone they were jealous of.

But, we cannot deal with these "Button Pushers" like we might have dealt with the bully when we were 10; by hiding their lunch, putting gum in their hair or just outright slugging them, etc...

Proverbs 12:16 A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.

As adults we have to learn how to deal with these people, and not allow them to make us angry and hurt our feelings.

But, most of the time these "Button Pushers" are the people we love and who are very close to us, a family member, a friend, a co-worker; so they are usually very good at knowing our weaknesses.

That is why it is so hard to IGNORE them, because once they start attacking our weaknesses, we take it personal, and then we get angry.

Quote:
Promise yourself to be so strong so that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
Author, unknown

The key thought is:

It’s About "Them" (they are the "Button Pusher" who likes to "aggravate" people); this is not "NOT" About "You" (so do not take it personal).
Remember "Button Pushers" can only aggravate those who let them.

The very best way to deal with a "Button Pusher" is:

CHOOSE TO WALK AWAY, AND IGNORE THEM WHEN THEY ACT LIKE THIS!!

And, every time you choose to walk away and "do not" get angry, you will get STRONGER and STRONGER.

The 1st time you walk away is the hardest time; the 2nd time you walk away is hard; the 3rd time you walk away is a little less difficult; and by the 10th time you walk away you are going to be SO STRONG and SO PROUD of yourself you will not want to let "Button Pushers" bother you anymore.

So remember, the next time someone tries to push your buttons, "just smile" and say to yourself: "the way they are acting is not about me, I have a choice, so I am going to walk away."

Quote
:
A smile is the beginning of peace.
- Mother Teresa

With love,
Tammy Taylor
